President Trump, who has long called mail-in voting inherently corrupt and pushed to restrict it, is now urging supporters to vote by mail as Republicans trail in multiple midterm polls. A September Emerson College poll found Democrats with an 11-point generic ballot advantage and higher voter enthusiasm.
Earlier this year Trump signed an executive order requiring states to report mail-voting plans to the Postal Service, which the Supreme Court blocked. He called that ruling a big loss at the time; he is now campaigning in red states and encouraging any legal method of voting, including the one he spent months trying to choke off.
Pressed for evidence of mail-ballot fraud, Trump pointed to California's slow vote count, which reflects processing time, not fraud. The White House, asked about the reversal, simply pointed reporters back to his own remarks.

Funny how a mailbox goes from den of thieves to civic treasure the minute the polls turn south. You'd think a man who spent months trying to choke off a thing would at least wait a decent interval before asking you to lick the stamp. The White House says to check his own remarks, and we did, all of them, and they don't agree with each other.
