House Democrats hound Oversight Committee to bring in Blanche for Epstein testimony

House Oversight Committee Democrats renewed calls for Attorney General Todd Blanche to testify about his handling of Epstein files, but it remains unclear whether Republican leadership has actually contacted him about appearing. Chairman James Comer says he wants Blanche to testify; Democratic ranking member Robert Garcia says his side has received no indication a hearing or interview has been arranged.

Garcia's letter notes former Attorney General Pam Bondi invoked Blanche's name more than 30 times during a May interview, casting him as the official who oversaw the flawed redaction and release of documents — a process that exposed victims' identities and concealed some co-conspirators. Garcia argues Blanche now 'bears full responsibility' for the Justice Department's continued noncompliance with the committee's subpoena.

Blanche told his Senate confirmation hearing that only 1% of released documents contained redaction errors and that DOJ had fixed the problems. Comer's office says he already 'willingly briefed' the committee, blaming Democrats for walking out of an earlier session without asking questions.
