The White House circulated a lengthy compilation of statements from cabinet officials, members of Congress, and outdoor-industry trade groups praising two executive orders President Trump signed easing hunting and fishing regulations, including reversing lead-ammunition restrictions from the Biden administration.
The release claims outdoor recreation generates over $1.2 trillion annually and supports over 5 million jobs, figures attributed to the industry itself rather than any independent audit. Groups quoted include the NRA, National Shooting Sports Foundation, Ducks Unlimited, and Delta Waterfowl, all of whom stood to benefit from looser rules they had lobbied for.
No text of the executive orders' actual mechanics, enforcement changes, or conservation tradeoffs appears in the release beyond the applause.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
When a man asks his own customers to write his performance review, you can guess how it comes out. The lobbying groups that wanted the lead rules gone are the same ones handing over the compliments, and the trillion-dollar figure comes from the very industry doing the cheering. What's missing is the part that takes work: what the orders actually change, and who eats the cost downstream.
