The White House sent the Senate a list of five withdrawn nominations, spanning posts from an aviation council ambassadorship to an inspector general slot at the Department of Education.

Jeffrey Anderson's ICAO nomination, John Grunewald II's Farm Credit Administration seat, Richard Schroyer's Homeland Security post, Heidi Semann's Education IG nomination, and Robert Stebbins' development finance role were all pulled.

No explanation accompanied any of the withdrawals, which is standard practice for these notices and reveals nothing about why five people who were nominated are suddenly not being nominated anymore.

The full dispatch is available from the source below.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
Five names go up, five names come down, and the public gets no more insight into why than if the announcement had been written in invisible ink. Maybe there's a dull explanation for every one, a scheduling conflict or a change of heart. But a government that treats its own hiring decisions like classified material shouldn't be surprised when people assume the worst.
