Ukraine's acting Prosecutor General Anton Kovalskyi has ordered an internal investigation into former Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko's departure from the country and into official conduct during Operation Carthage, he announced on Facebook. Kovalskyi said the review is examining whether proper protocols were followed and the specific circumstances of the trip, while declining to prejudge the outcome.
Kravchenko resigned amid corruption allegations tied to the NABU Carthage case and left Ukraine on September 14, a week later, reportedly crossing the Shehyni-Medyka checkpoint in a luxury taxi after dropping his security detail. He maintains he was on official business; Ukrainska Pravda reported he and his wife were likely registered at a fake address in Vienna. Parliament voted 317-0 to approve his resignation on September 15.
Separately, Kovalskyi said an internal probe into former deputy department head Aydin Khudiev is complete and headed to the disciplinary commission, while a probe into detained deputy department head Serhiy Kropyva continues. Twenty-four prosecutors have taken polygraph tests as part of what Kovalskyi called a broader security cleanup, and eight officials linked to Carthage have been fired.
