Kentucky Democrats sold 550 tickets to their Forward Together Dinner in Lexington, their best turnout since 2012, featuring a primary preview between Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman and former Beshear adviser Rocky Adkins. Gov. Andy Beshear, who employs both candidates, declined to endorse either, calling them 'both qualified' and predicting the contested primary will make Democrats stronger heading into a matchup with likely Republican nominee U.S. Rep. James Comer.

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer headlined the event in her role as DGA vice chair, delivering a message about interstate Democratic cooperation and reportedly softening her 'Get Shit Done' motto to 'Get Stuff Done' out of deference to Beshear's no-swearing podium rule. Senate nominee Charles Booker used his remarks to attack outgoing Sen. Mitch McConnell and opponent Andy Barr over a primary ad, while congressional candidate Zach Dembo cited a poll showing his race tied at 47-47.

Beshear opened his remarks by noting a shooting had occurred about 1.5 miles from the venue that evening, with one person likely killed, before pivoting to a case for Democrats winning nationally by focusing on jobs, healthcare and cost of living.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
A sold-out ballroom, a censored catchphrase, and a governor insisting a fight between his own two employees will 'help us' — Kentucky Democrats have found a way to make party unity sound like a talking point rather than a plan. Meanwhile the actual contest, the one against a Republican Party consolidating early around Comer, waits patiently in the wings while everyone practices not saying anything mean to each other.
