Ukraine’s prosecutor general accuses anti-corruption chief of falsifying documents and stealing case files. ‘He’s lost his mind,’ sources in Zelensky’s circle say.
Ruslan Kravchenko, who resigned as Ukraine's prosecutor general last week, has issued a notice of suspicion against NABU director Semen Kryvonos, accusing him of document forgery and a sham adoption meant to dodge legal liability. Kravchenko claims a NABU-SAPO operation code-named ‘Carthage’ was really cover for seizing case files on corruption probes against NABU and SAPO's own staff.
NABU and SAPO deny taking any materials and say the real story is an effort, underway since last summer, to place them under the prosecutor general's thumb. President Zelensky has publicly sided against Kravchenko, telling him dismissal is his only path, and the Rada is set to vote on accepting that resignation.
Sources close to Zelensky describe Kravchenko as having ‘lost his mind,’ while Kravchenko, currently abroad by his own account on ‘an official trip,’ says he plans to brief international partners on what he calls dangerous concentration of unchecked power in the anti-corruption agencies.
