Singer Monetochka, who left Russia at the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, has lived in Vilnius for four years and tells Meduza she now considers it a possible permanent home rather than the stopover she expected.

The piece, part of a new Meduza series profiling Russian émigrés, follows her through the Kalvarijos Market, the Kaziukas craft fair, bike rides with her children, and a fondness for šaltibarščiai, the cold beet soup she rates above her own homemade attempts.

She says she doubts she will ever feel she belongs anywhere again except with her family and listeners, describing home now as something portable rather than a fixed place.
