Cineplex reported a second-quarter profit of $7.8 million, reversing a $2.2 million loss a year earlier, on record second-quarter revenue of $383.7 million, up 9.8% from 2025. Theatre attendance rose to 12.7 million patrons from 11.6 million, with box office revenue per patron at $13.91 and concession revenue per patron at $10.26.

CEO Ellis Jacob credited a diverse film slate, including The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Toy Story 5, and the Michael Jackson biopic Michael, which he said became the highest-grossing biopic ever. The company also screened FIFA World Cup matches through a partnership with TSN, positioning itself as the only Canadian exhibitor offering the games on the big screen.
