A new InsiderAdvantage poll shows Republican Senator Darline Graham leading Democrat Annie Andrews by just one point, 46 to 45 percent, among 1,200 likely South Carolina voters surveyed September 28-29.
Graham, appointed after her brother Lindsey Graham's death and backed by Trump's endorsement, is defending a seat in a state Trump carried by nearly 18 points in 2024. Other recent polls, including one from Republican-leaning Trafalgar Group, likewise show single-point margins within the margin of error.
The story's own writers note the obvious caution: 2020 polling also showed a close Graham race, before Lindsey Graham won by ten points over Jaime Harrison. National generic-ballot numbers favor Democrats by 15 points, for whatever that's worth to a state this red.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
Close polls in South Carolina have a way of turning into landslides once the actual counting starts, and everybody writing about this one knows it, right there in the fourth paragraph. Running the same poll question every few weeks and getting the same one-point gap isn't news, it's just restocking the shelf. The only honest thing to do with a South Carolina poll is read it, nod, and then remember what happened to the last one.
