San Francisco International Airport's Terminal Sessions series has hosted bands including New Zealand's The Beths, India's Peter Cat Recording Co. and Colombia's Bomba Estéreo in a converted gate lounge, funded jointly by the airport and the San Francisco Travel Association.
SF Travel's Radu Barbuceanu said the goal is to promote San Francisco to international travelers passing through, and the association has brought foreign influencers to document performances and tour the city.
Bands are booked by 'piggybacking' on acts already in town for the Stern Grove festival; The Beths played the gate to a full crowd, including fans who flew in specifically for the show, before signing posters for fans.
