Talks involving the United States, Europe and Ukraine in Miami ended earlier than scheduled on October 10, with a Radio Free Europe correspondent reporting sources told him there would be 'no second day.' No official reason was given for the early finish.
The day before, Trump envoy Steve Witkoff had called the meeting constructive, saying delegates discussed Ukraine's energy resilience, grain exports, security guarantees and ending the war before winter, along with postwar reconstruction and EU accession. Ukraine's delegation included David Arakhamia, Rustem Umerov, Kyrylo Budanov and Sergiy Kyslytsya.
The talks also came a day after Trump announced an agreement with Vladimir Putin to allow Russian diesel exports onto world markets through April 2027, a move the U.S. Treasury then authorized. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy criticized the decision, saying it hands Moscow additional money to fund the war.
