Renewed fighting in Yemen has displaced more than 112,000 people internally and forced nearly 3,000 to cross the Red Sea to Djibouti in under a week, the United Nations said. Houthi forces seized Yemen's Red Sea coast last week, tightening control over the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, a key global shipping route.

Most displacement occurred along the west coast and in Taiz and Lahj provinces over the past two weeks, per the International Organization for Migration. The UN refugee agency noted the Djibouti arrivals add strain on a country of about one million people already hosting roughly 36,000 refugees.
