Ukraine's Navy said an unmanned surface vessel struck the Russian support ship NEFRIT in the port of Sochi on September 3. The Navy described NEFRIT as a multipurpose vessel supporting oil and gas operations, servicing offshore facilities, and transporting cargo and personnel.
The Navy said the ship's operations helped finance Russia's war effort, though it offered no independent verification of that claim beyond its own statement. The strike came the same day Ukraine's General Staff reported hits on other Russian military targets, including a landing craft in Sevastopol.
