Ukraine’s General Staff confirms strikes on Russian oil refineries in Bashkortostan and Samara

Ukraine's General Staff says its forces struck the Bashneft-Ufa refinery in Bashkortostan and the Kuibyshev refinery in Samara, sparking fires at both. The two facilities together process roughly 14.5 million metric tons of crude oil annually, producing gasoline, diesel, and other fuels the General Staff says supply the Russian military.

The Kuibyshev refinery has been hit before, including a June attack that knocked out two crude distillation units and shutdowns following strikes in August 2025 and March 2024. Ukraine frames the strikes as part of a broader campaign to weaken Russia's military and economic capacity.
