A new poll from the Alliance for Youth Power PAC and YouGov finds young Michigan voters favoring Democratic candidates by wide margins: 61% to 26% for governor, 66% to 24% for Senate, and 55% to 25% for Secretary of State. The survey covered eight battleground states with roughly 400 respondents each among voters ages 18-29, with about a five-point margin of error.
Seventy-eight percent of young Michigan voters hold an unfavorable view of President Trump, versus 19% favorable, a pattern analysts say holds across most surveyed swing states. Even young voters who previously backed Trump give him only about 65% approval nationally.
Economic concerns dominate young voters' priorities, with nearly half citing inflation or cost of living among their top three issues and corruption in the political system emerging as a rising concern. Most Michigan respondents are first-time voters, and while 37% feel ‘very prepared’ to vote, a plurality describe themselves as merely ‘somewhat prepared.’
