Ukrainian presidential technology adviser Serhii Beskrestnov, known as Flash, said surveillance tracked a jet-powered Shahed drone flying toward Kyiv from Donetsk Oblast at an altitude above 7 kilometers before it struck the SBU building on Sept. 4. He identified the drone as a Geran-4 after examining its wreckage, and said two such drones were launched toward Kyiv but only one reached the capital.
His analysis directly rebutted claims spreading on Russian online channels that the attack had been staged using a small drone. President Zelenskyy said the strike targeted the office of SBU chief Oleksandr Poklad, and Ukraine's Foreign Ministry called the attack a serious escalation showing Moscow's unwillingness to pursue diplomacy.
