‘Survivor Greece’ contestant sues for $100 million after leg severed in boating accident

A former ‘Survivor Greece’ contestant has filed a 61-page lawsuit in Miami-Dade County against Acun Medya and Skai Television, seeking over $100 million after losing his leg to a tour boat’s propeller while spearfishing off the Dominican Republic in May.

Stavros Floros alleges producers built the show’s format around unprotected open-water spearfishing despite prior near-misses and a 2023 fatality in the same waters, and that the surface marker buoy supplied stood only two to three feet tall. He also claims producers tried to keep filming after his injury, offered cast members cocaine and marijuana to keep them calm, and pressured a contestant to falsely sign that the competition had already ended.

Acun Medya previously told the Toronto Sun that Floros lacked a surface marker buoy. Floros disputes that account and says he underwent multiple surgeries and a two-month hospital stay before receiving the season’s prize money.

Put people in the water where boats run, hand them a marker the size of a mailbox post, and the surprise isn't that somebody got hurt. The surprise is anybody claiming they didn't see it coming. Two hundred years of fishermen have known that a boat driver can't spot what he can't see, and no camera crew has ever repealed that.
