Stand With Trans, a Michigan nonprofit, kicked off Trans Empowerment Month on October 1 under the theme Stronger Together, with programming that has expanded from a local workshop into an international lineup featuring speakers from Berlin and Abu Dhabi.
Executive director Roz Gould Keith and program manager Aidel Hawkins describe the effort as a counterweight to political pressure, citing the Trans Legislation Tracker's count of 835 anti-trans bills introduced across 43 states in 2026, including 32 in Michigan.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer officially recognized the month in 2025, alongside National Coming Out Day on October 11.
