Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed used a MS NOW appearance to unveil new nicknames for Vice President JD Vance ('Low-T JD') and his own Republican opponent Mike Rogers ('Meek Rogers'), flipping a masculinity-themed insult increasingly used by Republicans against Democratic men.
El-Sayed argued the attacks on him are a distraction from gas and grocery prices and the Trump family's business dealings, and said he intends to keep talking about getting money out of politics and expanding Medicare. Pressed by anchor Ari Melber on whether the nicknames implied his opponents are literally less manly, El-Sayed said strength means standing up to Trump, not punching down.

Nicknames are cheap, and this crop proves it: rhyme a word with weak, slap it on a rival, call it a strategy. Both sides are playing the same game of calling the other side soft, which is a fine way to fill airtime and a poor substitute for an actual grocery bill going down. The real contest here isn't over testosterone, it's over who can avoid answering a direct question about prices the longest.
