China expels generals accused of graft from Communist Party: State media

China expelled two senior military officers, including Zhang Youxia, the most senior of the Central Military Commission's two vice chairmen, from the Communist Party on charges described as 'serious violations of the law.' State media said the investigation found the men formed cliques, took huge sums of money, and helped others secure job promotions.

Xinhua reported the cases for the first time in detail, calling the sums involved 'exceptionally large,' and said the men's cases would be referred to military legal organs for prosecution. The expulsions still require ratification at a Central Committee plenary session.
