A continuing resolution signed by President Trump delays a federal hemp restriction, previously set for Nov. 12, that would eliminate an estimated 95% of hemp-derived products under a new total-THC standard. The reprieve runs only until the Dec. 11 funding deadline, according to shop owners quoted in the piece.

Florida retailers who rely on hemp-derived THC for the bulk of their sales call it welcome but temporary; one dispensary owner joked outright about hoping lobbying money 'greases the right politicians' pockets.' The U.S. Hemp Roundtable says it will keep pushing for a permanent framework, while anti-THC group SAM insists the ban will still take effect Dec. 11.

The story notes that Bret Worley, CEO of a major cannabinoid supplier and son-in-law of White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, stands to benefit from any repeal or further delay.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
A one-month delay stapled to a government funding bill is not relief, it is a snooze button with a lobbyist's fingerprints on it. When somebody in the industry says out loud that the plan is to grease pockets, believe him, he is telling you exactly how this town works. And when the president's own chief of staff has family money riding on the outcome, calling it a coincidence is like calling a fox in the henhouse a dinner guest.
