Mariska Hargitay won two Primetime Emmys at the Creative Arts Ceremony in Los Angeles for “My Mom Jayne,” her HBO Max documentary about her mother Jayne Mansfield, taking Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special and Outstanding Directing.

The film marks the first time Hargitay has spoken at length about her mother's 1967 car crash death, which happened when Hargitay, then three, was in the vehicle. In her speech she quoted the recently deceased Gloria Steinem on the value of telling one's own story.

These are Hargitay's first Emmys since 2006, and she hosts the main Primetime Emmys ceremony next week.

A woman wins awards for a documentary about her late mother and somebody's filing system decided that belongs with tariffs and trade disputes. It doesn't take a customs agent to see the mixup. Even the algorithm needs an editor some days.
