A Newsweek opinion piece by a consulting-firm founder argues that companies failing to fully redesign themselves around AI, rather than merely adopting AI tools, risk irrelevance, citing a Gartner survey in which roughly two-thirds of CEOs said their business model isn't fit for the AI era.
The piece holds up John Deere's AI-assisted farm equipment and Henry Ford's electricity-era assembly line as models of true reinvention versus superficial tech insertion, and warns that AI is eliminating entry-level apprenticeship work in law, engineering, and analysis.
The author, who runs an AI strategy consultancy, closes by urging leaders to challenge every assumption about their business and act before competitors do.

A man who sells umbrellas has looked at the sky and found it worrisome. Maybe he's right, weather happens, but I'd want that forecast from somebody who doesn't get paid by the inch of rain. And if the whole argument boils down to two-thirds of the bosses being nervous about their own businesses, well, nervous bosses have been a growth industry since long before anybody taught a tractor to think.
