Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo was absent from her three shows starting August 9, with staffers reportedly barred from contacting her directly and told to go through management instead. Fox News Media announced her departure this week in a brief statement wishing her well, after reports surfaced that she had sent the White House a screenshot of a confidential memo instructing staff not to cover President Trump's latest election conspiracy claims.

A source told Mediaite that colleagues sensed 'something was up' given the unusual communication blackout, and that Bartiromo had been spotted in the Hamptons behaving 'almost like she was undercover.'

Fox wished her well in a statement about as warm as a handshake at a foreclosure auction, which tells you everything about how that memo landed. A newsroom that has to remind its people not to chase a story is a newsroom with bigger troubles than one host in the Hamptons.
