The pro-Amendment 3 campaign is outspending the opposition by a 33-1 ratio

Florida's Amendment 3, which would raise homestead exemptions and cap non-homestead assessment growth, has been funded entirely by $18 million from the Florida Association of Realtors, versus a combined $537,357 raised by two opposition committees, a roughly 33-to-1 spending gap tracked by OpenSecrets.

State economists project the changes could cut local property tax collections by up to $12 billion annually within five years. Polling is split: a St. Pete Polls survey shows just 45% support, below the 60% threshold required, while a new Pioneer Institute poll, from a Boston think tank newly launched in Florida, shows 74% support.

A measure that needs 60 percent to pass and is polling anywhere from 45 to 74 depending on who's asking tells you more about the pollsters than the voters. When one side has eighteen million dollars from a single trade group and the other side is scraping by on a bake-sale budget, you don't need the poll to guess which billboard gets seen more. The realtors aren't spending that kind of money because they're worried about strangers' civic engagement.
