Ukrainian military intelligence chief Oleh Ivashchenko told Ukrinform that Russia, despite a labor shortage, budget deficit, and banking strain, still has the resources to keep waging war through 2028.
He put average daily Russian casualties at 1,200 to 1,400, sometimes reaching 1,500, and claimed more than 60% of Russians no longer support the war, attributing this to the economy and battlefield losses.
Separately, U.S. envoy Jared Kushner said after Kyiv talks that ending the war by winter isn't guaranteed but that Washington is working toward it, with President Trump said to want a 'lasting, long-term peace.'

Every war has a man whose job is to say the enemy is almost broke and almost beaten, and it is never quite as simple in practice as it sounds from a podium. The number that should worry everyone equally, on both sides of this fence, is the one about a person getting killed or wounded roughly every minute of every day. Peace talks are nice to hear about, but they tend to move slower than that clock.
