The exercise aimed to show students that AI's pattern-matching cannot replicate embodied experience, such as understanding a deaf character's perspective, or the emotional weight of grief and separation.

The professor argues that banning AI outright is impractical, but hopes students learn to recognize what gets lost — imagination, empathy, self-reflection — when a chatbot stands in for their own thinking.
