Colman Domingo is nominated for two Emmys this year, for playing Danny in Netflix's The Four Seasons and returning as Ali in the final season of HBO's Euphoria, a role that already won him an Emmy in 2022. He described his approach to acting as absorbing his characters rather than method acting, crediting decades in regional theater and Broadway before Hollywood roles arrived in his 40s.

Domingo discussed his path from West Philadelphia to back-to-back Oscar nominations for Rustin and Sing Sing, and his approach to playing Joe Jackson in the biopic Michael by drawing on blue-collar men of his stepfather's generation. He said he resisted pressure to soften the portrayal despite the film being produced by the Jackson family, wanting instead to make the character complex.
