A Russian jet-powered Geran-4 drone launched from occupied Crimea's Hvardiiske airfield traveled roughly 960 kilometers, according to the OSINT channel Oko Gora, nearly double its officially stated 550-kilometer range. Analysts attribute the extended distance to flying at higher altitude, between 5,000 and 7,000 meters.

The same analysts calculate that 96% of Ukrainian territory now falls within range of these drones. It follows an Aug. 18 strike in which a jet-powered Shahed reached western Ukraine for the first time, flying an estimated 850–920 kilometers.

A Ukrainian presidential adviser said all jet-powered Shaheds are controlled online, with about half capable of striking automatically once an operator locks onto a target. Ukrainian intelligence first reported the faster, longer-range Geran-4 variant in May.
