Emerson College Polling surveyed 1,000 likely voters and found Democrats leading Republicans 51-43 on the generic Congressional ballot, with Trump's approval stuck at 40% approve, 56% disapprove — numbers that have barely moved since April.

Women disapprove of Trump 62-32, independents disapprove 66%, and 92% of Democrats disapprove, while Republicans remain a fortress at 86% approval. Looking toward 2028, Marco Rubio outperforms JD Vance against Democratic contenders, with Pete Buttigieg holding a steady 5-point edge over both.

The economy topped voter concerns at 37%, with threats to democracy and healthcare tied at 16%. Separately, 23% of voters called themselves Democratic Socialists of America supporters, rising to 46% among Democrats under 50, suggesting the party's moderate wing has some arithmetic to do.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
A poll about hypothetical 2028 matchups landing two months before the actual midterms is less news than it is furniture — comfortable, premature, and mostly there to be sat on by pundits. The real story, that Trump's numbers haven't moved in months despite everything, gets buried under speculative Rubio-versus-Vance theater nobody asked for yet.
