White House Communications Director Steven Cheung attacked CNN anchor Erin Burnett after she compared the administration's new 24/7 video stream to North Korean state television. Burnett's on-air remarks came days after President Trump barred CNN, Politico and MS NOW from White House grounds, prompting major networks to pull out of the White House TV pool.

Cheung's response, given in a statement to another outlet, included a slur rather than any answer to the substance of Burnett's critique. Burnett had noted the channel's low viewership and its programming, largely re-airs of past Trump remarks including his inauguration.

This is reportedly not the first time Cheung has reached for an offensive insult when criticized.

When a man gets compared to state TV, the easy fix is to point at all the reporters roaming free in his building. This crowd can't do that, having just marched three outlets off the property, so the spokesman called a name instead. A fella who answers a question with a slur usually doesn't have a better answer in his pocket.
