Jake Lang, a pardoned January 6 rioter, led a 'Christian Crusader March' to a Dearborn city council meeting, telling council members Muslims are 'looking to outbreed' white people and calling them tools of Democratic socialism. Michigan Advance estimated the crowd, split between Lang's supporters and counterprotesters separated by riot police, peaked at roughly 2,000 people outside a library where the meeting was relocated for safety.

Lang organized the event with Detroit Pastor Lorenzo Sewell, who serves on the faith coalition of Senate candidate Mike Rogers; Rogers' Democratic opponent Abdul El-Sayed's campaign called on Rogers to disavow the rally and did not receive a response from the Rogers campaign by publication.

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, Sen. Elissa Slotkin and Rep. Rashida Tlaib all condemned the protest, and Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud said a young boy had asked him if 'the crusaders were going to kill him.' Police reported no immediate information on arrests or violent altercations despite tense confrontations in the crowd.
