Elon Musk told former Ukrainian defense minister Mykhailo Fedorov that he had no personal objection to Ukraine using Starlink-equipped drones to strike targets inside Russia, according to sources cited by the Financial Times. Musk reportedly added that the actual call was a political one for the White House to make, not him.

Fedorov told the FT that expanded long-range strikes are the most effective way to pressure Vladimir Putin into ending the war, though he said Ukraine needs more jet-powered drones and cheap, AI-guided missiles to do it. He declined to say whether he'd meet Musk during his U.S. visit but said the two remain in contact.

The report follows earlier accounts that Zelenskyy asked Trump in July to raise the Starlink targeting question with Musk directly, with Kyiv proposing a 200-kilometer range limit; Trump reportedly did not clearly endorse the idea at the time. Musk separately restricted Starlink access earlier this year after reports that Russian forces were using terminals on Shahed drones.
