Ukraine's Defense Procurement Agency says it increased drone contracting by 300% in 2026 compared with the prior year, according to the Ministry of Defense. Defense Minister Yevhenii Khmara framed the purchases as covering tactical, operational, and strategic needs, including what he called deep strike systems for hitting targets inside Russia.
The ministry says FPV drone contracts have already exceeded last year's total by 54%, with deliveries up almost 3.7 times, crediting international partners and expanded domestic production. A separate July interview with the former defense minister claimed Ukrainian drones account for about 95% of Russian losses along the front line.
