Russian coking coal exports to Turkiye fell 30% over the first seven months of 2026 and stopped entirely in July, according to Kommersant, as Black Sea shipping conditions worsen. Russia had been Turkiye's third-largest coal supplier behind the U.S. and Australia, holding roughly 7% of the market before the drop.
Britain sold Turkiye coking coal for the first time this year in July, and Kazakhstan also picked up volume, while U.S. exports to Turkiye rose 70% over the same period. A Russian analytics firm attributed the collapse largely to the effective halt of shipping between Russian ports and Turkiye, noting that rerouting through the Baltic is too costly to make up the difference.
Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces say their Operation MoLoCHKa, aimed at disrupting Russian Black and Azov Sea logistics, has run for ten weeks, claiming hits on 215 vessels in July, 54 in August, and 16 more in early September.
