European officials tell Bloomberg they see no evidence Russia is preparing a conventional attack on NATO or the Baltic states, pushing back on reports that CIA Director John Ratcliffe's Moscow visit was meant to head one off. Sources say the trip more likely covered ending the war in Ukraine, reaffirming Article 5, and the Iran war, along with pressuring Moscow over Tehran.

None of the European officials had been briefed by the US on what Ratcliffe actually discussed, basing their skepticism instead on their own intelligence. Latest assessments show no change in Russia's conventional military posture, even as officials continue warning about possible sabotage and false-flag operations in the Baltics and Poland.

The full dispatch is available from the source below.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
A visit nobody explains gets explained by everyone except the people who took it, which is either diplomacy or improv, and at this point hard to tell apart. The one detail everyone agrees on is that Ratcliffe wanted the trip noticed, which tells you the message mattered more than the substance.
