Ukrainian lawmaker Yehor Chernev told Radio NV he sees no sign Russia is ready to end the war, despite Trump's talk of a possible breakthrough and a Zelenskyy-Trump meeting expected in September. Chernev argued Trump's optimism is more about scoring points ahead of U.S. congressional elections than reflecting real Kremlin readiness, since Putin has stockpiled missiles for winter and believes he can still break Ukraine through infrastructure attacks.

On mobilization, Chernev said Ukraine's own covert call-up 'never stopped,' with the only open question being whether it goes public or simply gets more aggressive while staying covert. He pointed to Russia's shaky economic indicators, growing Global South discontent, and Western sanctions as factors that could eventually push the Kremlin toward a ceasefire, while stressing none of that has happened yet.
