Russian forces struck Kyiv with missiles and jet-powered drones overnight on September 8, damaging administrative buildings, warehouses, schools, and homes across six districts, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said. Two people were killed and 10 injured, two seriously, according to doctors.

The Ukrainian Air Force Command said the mix of missile types and jet-powered drones made the attack harder to intercept. Russian forces had held off striking Kyiv from September 5 to 7, while U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner prepared for and conducted their visit to Ukraine.
