A vintage reseller named Stephanie found a dress at a Goodwill Outlet in Saint Paul, Minnesota, that she initially mistook for a curtain among discarded clothing sold by weight at $2.59 per pound. The dress, weighing about four pounds, cost just over $10.
The garment turned out to be a Fanciful Doll label's 'Ophelia Epic Romance Gown,' listed on the brand's website for $1,032. Stephanie said she plans to resell it.
She described the discovery as part of a broader effort to rescue usable clothing from what she calls the last stop before the landfill, noting Americans discard more than 13 million tons of clothing annually.
