During an interview for her ‘Making Space’ podcast, Hoda Kotb told Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman that hearing about Bullock's 2010 adoption of her son Louis, at a moment when Kotb believed she had missed her own chance to have children, led her to call Bullock and ultimately pursue adoption herself. Kotb said she now has two daughters because of that conversation.

Bullock, who also adopted a daughter in 2015, has spoken previously about being open regarding her family's adoption journey, saying in 2018 that there is no single template for who becomes a parent.
