Sri Lanka's Examinations Commissioner General Indika Kumari Liyanage has denied social media rumors that Advanced Level exam papers were leaked, calling the claims unfounded and urging students to stay calm.

The Department of Examinations says its security protocols remain intact and is asking candidates and parents to ignore unverified online content and rely only on official statements.

The A/L exam determines university entrance for hundreds of thousands of Sri Lankan students annually, which is presumably why the rumor spread so fast in the first place.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
Telling anxious teenagers to simply trust the institution and stop panicking has never once worked in the history of exams, rumors, or teenagers. If the department wants the panic to stop, an actual explanation of what set it off would go further than a call for calm.
