Exclusive: Ukrainian officer: Russian bloggers' panic over Lyman may be valid

A Ukrainian deputy corps commander, Lt. Col. Rodion Kudryashov, said in a Sept. 1 interview that panic among Russian military bloggers over the situation near Lyman may be justified, citing a pattern of Russian commanders reporting battlefield gains to their political leaders that do not actually exist on the map. He urged caution, however, saying observers should wait for official communication from Ukraine's 3rd Army Corps rather than take blogger chatter at face value.

Separately, a Joint Forces Group spokesman said earlier in August that Russian forces continued intense efforts to break through near Lyman, particularly through gray zones near Zarichne and Yampil, but described Ukrainian defenses there as well-fortified and the Russian attempts as low in effectiveness despite their intensity.
