A shootout in Kyiv's Berezniaky district left three Ukrainian Defense Intelligence fighters wounded, one seriously with a pierced artery, according to Stepan Kaplunov, deputy commander of the Russian Volunteer Corps, speaking to Radio NV.
Kaplunov says the gunfire erupted outside his apartment while he sat inside during an SBU search that turned up nothing prohibited. He says he cannot confirm whether any shooters were detained, calling that information contradictory.
The SBU says it thwarted an assassination plot against a Russian opposition figure and that Kaplunov admitted FSB contacts and a past assignment to eliminate Ukrainian servicemen for pay. Kaplunov denies working for Russian intelligence and says he only heard, never saw, the events everyone else was reading about on Telegram.
