Lane Kiffin returned to Oxford as LSU's head coach and was greeted by vulgar chants from Ole Miss fans during ESPN's College GameDay broadcast ahead of the No. 7 Tigers' matchup with the No. 8 Rebels. Kiffin left Ole Miss for LSU last season, reportedly departing abruptly on a private jet, and Mississippi officials assembled what they called the state's largest-ever law enforcement presence for the game, with roughly 100,000 people expected in a stadium that seats 64,000.

Kiffin himself downplayed the hostility on air, acknowledging the emotion in the stadium while focusing on the matchup between two ranked programs. Ole Miss won 32-24.
