Forbes reports that after this month's total solar eclipse over Greenland, Iceland and Spain, the next totality visible in the contiguous U.S. will not occur until Aug. 22, 2044, touching only Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota.

The two eclipses belong to the same 18-year Saros cycle, and a 2045 eclipse will offer a full coast-to-coast U.S. path with up to six minutes of totality.

A separate, more accessible eclipse will cross Alaska in 2033.
