SpaceX restored Starlink service for Ukrainian terminals moving up to about 100 mph after abruptly imposing restrictions that Ukrainian officials compared to a strike on their defense capability, since the cap affected drone operations on the front line. Former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov thanked Musk while asking him to remove the speed limit entirely, calling it critical for Ukraine's defense.
Musk responded that Starshield, the military version of the service, is owned and controlled by the U.S. government, with speed and usage limits set by the U.S. military and ultimately the president, not by him. Ukraine's defense ministry confirmed the 100 mph cap remains in place even after the fix, just with better connection quality within that limit.

It takes a certain nerve to call a service 'critical for national defense' in one breath and 'not my call, ask Washington' in the next, but Musk managed it without blinking. A country fighting a war for survival is now dependent on a satellite speed limit set by a government currently cutting side deals with the people doing the invading. That's not a glitch, that's just what it looks like when your battlefield infrastructure belongs to somebody else's shareholder meeting.
