Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Kyiv has installed more than 12 anti-drone turrets in the capital, with eight more .50-caliber units headed to the surrounding region, as officials scramble to counter Russia's new jet-powered Shahed variants.
Zelensky said the turrets are one of several parallel efforts, including a small-missile program whose first results are expected by the end of October, with mass production to follow if tests succeed.
The drones in question fly three to four times faster than standard models, straining mobile fire teams that have handled conventional threats; Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed in late September that Ukraine has no answer for them yet.
