TMC MP Mahua Moitra says the Nadia district administration ordered her to vacate the Krishnanagar circuit house late Friday night while a crowd outside shouted slogans. She says she was served dinner at 9:20 p.m., got a call at 9:47 p.m. asking her to leave, and received a written order at 10:52 p.m. citing 'annual maintenance,' dated August 12.
The order exempted reservations confirmed before Thursday. Moitra, who says she's entitled to the room as the district's elected MP, refused to leave, invoking the Supreme Court's earlier refusal to let her appear virtually in a case over remarks she made about a July egg-throwing incident at a TMC office.
Opposition leaders including TMC's Abhishek Banerjee and Congress's Pawan Khera raised safety concerns. The Nadia administration has not commented.
