Ukrainian officials tell Suspilne that as of Sept. 19, no bilateral meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy has been confirmed for the UN General Assembly week in New York, despite Zelenskyy's earlier expectation of talks in the ‘20s of the month.' U.S. Ambassador Mike Waltz's publicly announced schedule of Trump's bilateral meetings during his Sept. 21-22 New York trip does not include Ukraine.

Ukrainian officials note the absence doesn't mean a meeting is ruled out, and both governments say teams are still working on it. Zelenskyy wants to raise Ukraine's need for ballistic missile defense, a request he says has already been detailed to U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

The news arrives days after Trump signed a new sanctions law targeting Russia and Iran, including tariff powers of up to 100% on countries still buying Russian energy.
